Confirm the EEN prescription with your team
The ECCO dietary consensus summary describes EEN as a treatment for Crohn’s disease that temporarily replaces food with specialized formula. Its clinical use should not be generalized into a self-directed diet for UC.
The team specifies the formula, amount, schedule, permitted drinks, monitoring and duration. Do not replace prescribed formula with ordinary protein shakes or a homemade liquid diet.
Agree on the record before you start
| Bring to the conversation | Keep in the record your team requests |
|---|---|
| The prescription | Formula name, written schedule and who to contact about changes. |
| What you managed | Actual intake and missed amounts, in the units your team uses. |
| Tolerance or practical problems | What happened, when, and what made the plan difficult. |
| Review and transition | Appointment date, required checks and questions about food reintroduction. |
This is a discussion template. Use the clinical team’s form or prescribed tracking system if they require one.
What Hara’s general notes can organize
Hara can store the observations you enter in general meal or symptom notes and help retrieve recorded context for a question or summary. Verify that each entry and its units match what you meant. This guide does not establish a dedicated EEN module, formula database, nutrition calculator or clinical adherence dashboard in Hara.
If your team needs precise formula totals, tube-feed records or fluid balance, ask which tool to use. Do not assume an AI food check will produce those measurements.
Bring difficulties to the team early
If you cannot take the prescribed formula, contact your team rather than silently changing the regimen. Follow their urgent-care instructions for significant deterioration, dehydration or persistent vomiting. You do not need a complete diary before asking for help.
The next meal starts with a transition plan
Food reintroduction should follow the instructions you are given. Once your team has specified the next step, Hara can help organize what you ate and how it went. Feeling better does not, by itself, establish that intestinal inflammation is controlled.
Read the separate CDED guide, or prepare a food and symptom summary for your GI visit.
Frequently asked questions
Is Hara an EEN treatment app?
Hara is a general food-guidance and record-organizing app. This guide does not establish a dedicated EEN treatment or adherence module. Use the regimen and tracking method your clinical team prescribes.
Can Hara tell me how much EEN formula to drink?
No. The clinical team must specify the formula and regimen, including quantities and permitted intake. Do not use general AI meal guidance to change an EEN prescription.
Can I use the same EEN plan for ulcerative colitis?
Do not transfer a Crohn’s EEN regimen to UC yourself. The conditions have different evidence and treatment plans; ask your IBD team what nutrition support is appropriate.
